Dec 31,  · The concerto grosso form was popularized by Corelli, and Locatelli's Op.1 is a marvelous example of the genre: its solid craftsmanship, imaginative textures and exciting virtuosity bringing it into the top rank. These works are ravishingly performed here by The Raglan Baroque Players, Nicholas Kraemer and soloist Elizabeth Wallfisch/5(2).

Feb 19,  · Elizabeth Wallfisch, an extremely talented classical musician, leads the Raglan Baroque Players in numerous pieces, all of which I found to be most pleasing to the ear; those that don't have much patience or that cannot find the deeper sounds, may be disappointed/5(6).

These concerti by Locatelli are good examples of the Corellian concerto, they have their share of virtuosity and melodic passages. They are not as good as Corelli, only Handel's could claim that, but it is fine baroque, and it is very well played by Elizabeth Wallfisch and the Raglan Baroque. Recommended to all baroque lovers/5(2).
